IHT presents NTU MUN 2010

Dear delegates, MUN coordinators and corporate partners,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Nanyang Technological University Model United Nations (NTU MUN) 2010, presented by the International Herald Tribune and organised by the NTU Debating Society. As one of the most prestigious and reputed simulations of the United Nations in the Asia Pacific region, we aim to foster debate and discussion amongst tomorrow's leaders on today's issues.

Since 2006, we've had over 200 delegates from across 10 countries in attendance at NTU MUN. The 5th edition of NTU MUN in 2010 promises to be larger both in terms of scale and diversity.

In the past, our event has been graced by distinguished guests and keynote speakers, including the British High Commissioner to Singapore, Director of the International Monetary Fund (Regional Office) and Assoc Director of the EU Centre in Singapore. The patron of NTU MUN is Prof Bertil Andersson, Trustee of the Nobel Foundation and NTU Provost.

We are delighted to have on board the International Herald Tribune (IHT) as our Presenting Sponsor for NTU MUN 2010. The International Herald Tribune, the global edition of The New York Times, creates, collects and distributes world news, information, entertainment and opinion of the highest journalistic integrity. Its balanced perspective addresses all areas of human interest and is trusted and enjoyed by people in all corners of the globe.

We would also like to thank the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) for their continued support for NTU MUN.

NTU MUN 2010 is an opportunity for the best and brightest minds to step into the shoes of global decision makers, engage in international diplomacy and have a lot of fun along the way, whether it be at the traditional Saturday night Socials or the networking session post the Opening Ceremony.

The five Councils in session this year have been specially created keeping in mind the latest global developments and the most pressing issues of the day. Our Press Corps have been designed so as to present diverse views and opinions of the same facts.

Feel free to contact us in case of any queries and my committee will be more than happy to help you out.

Looking forward to your participation at NTU MUN 2010.

Jayesh Kannan
Secretary-General
