About the Organizers: NTU Debating Society

The NTU Debating Society has been actively involved in promoting and inculcating Debating and Public Speaking skills in the student population of NTU.  It has organized a number of successful debating events that provide a platform for the student debaters of not only NTU, but also from other universities, junior colleges and polytechnics in the region. Last year, the NTU Debating Society organized the NTU Pre Worlds 2007, the hugely successful NTU Model United Nations which had participants from over 6 countries and NTU Dorothy Cheung Inter-Tertiary Championships, our flagship tournament. In addition the NTU Debating Squad which was started in 1991 has built up a strong debating tradition in NTU. Apart from strong showings at Asian and Australasian levels, NTU made it to the finals of the World Universities Debating Championship the most prestigious debating tournament. NTU are the Asian Universities Debating Champions 2008, which we won at the International Islamic University, Malaysia in May 2008.

The All-Asians in 1994 and 1997. Australs 2001. Worlds 2004. AUDC 2005. NTU has a huge tradition of hosting national and international tournaments, something it has done with a style of its own, with the consistent and formal efficiency for which NTU WUDC 2004 is remembered even today.
