Press Corps

What is Press Corps?

Press Corps in NTU is a body of writers and broadcasters who come together and act as the media for the Model United Nations. Our job is to attend council sessions, take notes of what is going on and create a comprehensive publication about the day’s events. Conventionally, press corps only incorporates writers and article editors, but this year, we have added a broadcast team, which will be recording each session and finally producing a final video. Every member of press corps has to remember that he or she must not exhibit passivity and instead, show initiative and the desire to gather statements and information from the various delegates while at the same time, not appearing intimidating. Whether or not you are an aspiring journalist, the opportunity to analyze and report hard and soft stories can be developed through genuine interest, hard work and initiative. At the end of the day, the experience gained is invaluable.

Press Corps - NTU MUN 2007

This year's Press Corp will consist of three different companies- "Al-Jazeera", "BBC", and "Fox". The journalists in each of these companies will report on the development made in each council from their unique standpoint. This new Press Corp would make the conference more appealing and interactive.

At the end of the event, awards will be given for best article, best writer etc. The journalists will be assessed on their creativity and unique perspectives of each situation. The Press Corps can thus be viewed as a competition within a competition with a chance to develop your writing skills.

As writers it would complemet your interests and serve as a platform to nurture and fine tune your aptitude. It is an amazingly interesting avenue to demonstrate your work and with prestigious names like SPH and NLB involved, nothing could be better!

As a part of the Press Corps you will have the oppurtunity to interrogate the delegates during press conferences and publish newsletters and articles based on the various events. You will be expected to have a good understanding of the media corps and the present global scenario.

Students with a writing background and an interest in journalism are invited to come for the interviews and be a part of our team.
